Rekzoe drop in market share of IE 6-7 around May 1st. Why?
Accidentally noticed a sharp anomalous decrease in the proportion of hated IE 6-7, which happened around the first two weeks of May.
Pruflink .
It can be seen that in the range W17-W19 there is a drop of about 1%, contrary to the smooth protracted trend.
It does not look like interference in the line, because there was no bounce back.
Pleases incredibly, but no one knows what happened there?

I can naively assume that feedback worked: judging by the search results, for the whole of May, all the media are full of headlines “Google Chrome surpassed Internet Explorer in popularity”, “Google Chrome became the most popular for the first time”. Unknowing people rushed to see what kind of animal it was.
Sorry for the stupid stupid question.
Are you sure the IE6 "browser" is counted in the statistics, or is it counting any program that sends 'I'm IE 6' in the headers?
As one of the options, it may be that botnets, parsers, or something else, began to use other headers after all. Considering that China has the largest botnets...
Well, this is just one of the opinions.
The site ie6countdown.com also saw a sharp drop. Apparently out of action a major Asian player. For example, the Great Chinese Firewall filtered a bunch of sites.
I would honestly cross my fingers and pray that this is true, and even better, even a true trend!
Well, in fact, according to our internal statistics, over the past 2 years, the share of all IEs fluctuates around 1-2%. I can't confirm with a link. Not in the event of a controversial / complex issue, we refuse to support IE at the corporate level. (We are engaged in video streaming and broadcasting.)
IE 6/7 are mainly used in corporate networks where users are not allowed to install other browsers, so there is a very clear link to office hours and working days.
