Regedit delete user.dat on windows?

If you run the regedit application via win + r and delete the user.dat file, what will happen ??
Please describe the consequences, preferably on different windows distributions (XP/7/8/10)

1 nothing will happen, it will be stupidly deleted, it doesn’t matter if the editor is running or not
2 it won’t let you delete it, the file will be blocked, but again, the editor has nothing to do with
it

Delete and find out. :) But it's better to rename the file first, and not delete it, so that you don't have to reinstall the system. And yes, the file is called NTUSER.DAT, just C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\USER.DAT was on the 9th kernel, it is not used in NT.
