Recommend wifi router for home

Now I have dir-300, the Internet speed of which for some reason does not grow above 1.8 megabytes / sec, no matter what the settings are. Direct cable to the computer gives out more than 5 megabytes / sec. I'm already tired of fighting with him for many months, I want a normal piece of iron. Recommend anything around $100 that works better than this dinosaur.

From myself I can say that the device is excellent. I myself am satisfied , my friends, whom I advised , are also satisfied .
*If you do not want to pay for usb, you can take the Lite version. But I still recommend Classic.

I came to the conclusion that you need to make a router (with a motherboard 170 * 170 with a built-in CPU).
MB + CPU - $60
RAM - 15 USD
PSU - 15 USD
5 ports Gbit switch - 15 USD
Wifi adapter - 15 USD
As a result, the machine can route a bunch of traffic, you can upgrade. You can watch HDTV (if you eat correctly).

I personally love Linksys / Cisco - there is a whole line of $ 50-$ 100 for the home now and the devices are suitable, I have them everywhere.

It all depends on how you connect the Internet, if you use a VPN, then in this case everything will depend on the processor of the router and it is difficult to achieve good results from cheap ones. Accordingly, if you need a good speed over VPN, then not everyone is cheap and able to stretch 2 megabits, not to mention more, based on this, I took Asus RT-N16, of course it costs more than $ 100, and you need to finish it with a file, without fail, you need to put a sane cooler on the percent, otherwise it overheats and freezes. There were a lot of problems with the firmware, there were constant breaks for UDP at the factory, they fixed it over time, now I’m sitting on the factory firmware, it works like a clock, it gives out 60-80Mbps via PPTP, but this is in the case of http downloads, slower on torrents.

I advise the DLINK DIR-300 router, I use it myself, everything is fine. No brakes, no failures.

It seems to me that it’s not the router, I have the same one, I myself am from Kharkov:

www.speedtest.net/result/1363782941.png The
router itself produces standard 54 Mbps for g . Perhaps something is interfering.

Look at ubiquiti equipment, cheap equipment, ISP level hardware.

DLINK DIR-400, at first I suffered with the creation of PPTP - I don’t remember what the problem was and how it was solved. Just reflashed several times. He worked for a year and went down the female line.
ASUS WL-520GC tuned in easier, then it also went there a year later. Fortunately, the warranty is two years and the service issued a piece of paper about the non-repairability.
I went to the store, paid extra and took the ASUS RT-N16. While it works great.
When choosing the latter, I read this: sonikelf.ru/kak-vybrat-router-sovety-i-rekomendacii/

Dlink has an excellent dir 825 dual-band router with IPv6 support, with a good adapter (I have a DLINK dwa-160) it downloads 8-9 megabytes per second (100 megabit connection). A lot of settings, works stably 24/7. VPN support. Price about 110$

I've been using Asus WL520 for 3 or 4 years now.
the main problem of small pieces of iron is a weak filling (the “processor” of the box is heavily loaded).
On L2TP image, in an uncut version under Linux (this screen is under Windows), the speed is about 25-27 Mbps.
On PPPoE no higher than 4-6 Mbps. Firmware "Olegovskaya".
If you need super-fast speed on the Internet (if the tariff allows!) - you should be puzzled by buying powerful hardware (in a router) or a nettop with a couple of network cards. The router can be connected to the nettop with a cable. Such an Asus gives stable 100 Mbps over the wire within the local network. I did not squeeze out more than 8 meters (56 Mbps) from WAN-LAN .

What firmware is on the router? On Dir-320, 5 MB / s with dd-wrt is achievable, I can’t say anything about the standard one, because I reflashed it almost immediately. But Dir-320, unlike 300 with Broadcomm instead of Atheros

Take Asus RT-AC68U
Beats through 2 concrete walls, on one of which there is an LCD panel. There is not the slightest lag or freeze in online games, there is simply no difference with the wire. Ping is minimal.
Install the firmware from Merlin .
