A few years ago, I stumbled upon a (I think) open source solution almost from Amazon, which allowed real-time aggregated metrics on the data stream. Those. let's say 100 times per second you receive a message that the ping to the server is now N ms. The requirement at any given time to know what the average ping is now. This software was able to connect to fairly arbitrary data streams and produce fairly arbitrary aggregated metrics from configs.

I've been looking for three hours and can't find it =(
