Reading IR Remote Codes with Android Smartphone?

It's no secret that modern smartphones have light sensors and cameras. Both are able to "see" infrared radiation from the LED in the remote control. Question: is it possible to record the code transmitted by the remote control using a light sensor or a camera? Or does the sensor/camera not have enough refresh rate to read this code? How often does the LED on the remotes flash?

There is, for example, such a protocol: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RC-5
To analyze its messages, you need at least 1000 samples per second, which is unrealistic for a conventional camera.

Infrared radiation is called "infrared" for a reason. An ordinary camera does not see it, respectively, you will not succeed.
