Reading English books or Russian?

Hello!
I am a beginner programmer, I worked as a web programmer, but very little, more precisely for two months. Basically it is php and js. But after that they told me to finish my studies. (Although the contract on the salary was signed, it was never paid, even though I got experience).
Interested in the trail. question. While working, mainly with js, the libraries were in English and not everyone understood what they were writing about. Now there is a choice when reading books, what to choose in English or Russian? It is clear that Russian is much faster at times. But English will have to write out words accordingly, that is, more slowly.
Read English or Russian books? Can re-read everything that is in Russian, and then take up English. books? How did you study English?
Immediately advise books on js.
Thanks a lot!
PS: I'm interested in the opinion of experienced programmers, but I will be glad for any comment, because I'm not a very good programmer. Thank you.

Translations are available only for the most popular and popular books. And they appear much later than the originals. With mistakes.
These three facts clearly determine the need to learn and use the English language.

It is clear that in Russian it is much faster

Faster doesn't mean better.
You don’t have to write it out, just keep an interpreter handy.
I will advise the way that was once advised to me - "full immersion". Read the news in English, put the OS on the virtual machine in English, start reading some book in English. Gradually, some kind of vocabulary will be formed, you will meet template phrases. If unfamiliar words come across, the context, as a rule, often helps to guess their meaning. Naturally, periodically such a practice needs to be supported by grammar books.
Too bad it's not me...

Although I am not a particularly experienced programmer (I have a couple of months more experience than you), but I would advise you to spend more time and study the literature you are interested in in the original.
I am now working in a company with other developers, more experienced, and just the other day I heard an interesting thing from one of them: "It is written in Russian. I don't understand what is written here. Is there an English version?" Alas, books are written by smart people, but often stupid (or not understanding the topic) people publish and translate them. Therefore, it is not a fact that the translation will fully correspond to the original.
As for learning the language... I liked the idea of reading a book in English with a Russian version in hand. I did this at school, I read Treasure Island. Indeed, a useful activity. Now I have switched to movies/series. Just to expand the vocabulary - that's what you need. Choose those books / films that you have already read / seen, the plot of which you know. At the same time, pronunciation can also be trained (in the meantime, you never know, a programmer needs to communicate with a foreign customer).
And there is a good book on Javascript for beginners and those who want to brush up on the main aspects and clarify some of the nuances.

Download for free, alas, it is impossible, but online - read as much as you like. I am still reading.

1. books in Russian - almost all translated, therefore often outdated.
often by the time the Russian translation is published, the next edition of the original is already out.
2. Everyone studied English in different ways: someone studied at a specialized school in childhood, another worked closely with a tutor, the rest simply pored over self-teaching books.
3. If English is hard right now, read in Russian.

Take any book in Russian that interests you and find its original in English. And start reading the original version. Translate all unfamiliar words with a dictionary or translator. If the general meaning of the sentence is not clear, you can look into the Russian version of the book.
Yes! It will take a long time, but it's a worthwhile investment for the future, especially if you're learning "hipster" languages like JS and Ruby.
PS One knowledge of the language to read technical literature and documentation will not be enough

I can only say that if you start reading books in English now, then it will be easier, because all good information, books, etc. are published initially in English, if you urgently need to study something, then, of course, take the information in Russian Better yet, study English at the same time!
