Raspberry Pi and DSI and CSI interfaces?

Yesterday I became interested in the possibility of using RPi in one industrial device, in which all sorts of things need to be displayed on the LCD screen. The HDMI interface could hypothetically be used, but I don’t want to, because it will be necessary to install a TMDS to LVDS converter. I must say, I was very surprised that instead of the "racial" LVDS, a rather enslaved DSI interface was divorced on the board. Moreover, there are statements that it is impossible to start this interface without a special blob. Perhaps someone here has more information on this?

Judging by the forums and feedback from developers (in November, it seems), somewhere by spring-spring they may have a solution for DSI (which will require a gpu driver, that's right). They also said that someone wants to make a cheap HDMI-LVDS. And the rest is on elinux.org/RPi_Screens#DSI_port , you read it yourself. If there is news, please share.
