Rails & Sphinx error on rake ts:start

The problem is, configured sphinx,
rake ts:configure created configuration
rake ts:index - indexed
when I enter rake ts:start it gives:
Failed to start searchd daemon. Check /.../log/development.searchd.log.
Failed to start searchd. Check the log files for more information.
In log:
[Sat Nov 30 23:19:46.863 2013] [ 8773] FATAL: failed to create pid file 'RAILS_ROOT/log/sphinx/searchd.development.pid': No such file or directory
[Sat Nov 30 23 :19:46.864 2013] [ 8772] Child process 8773 has been finished, exit code 1. Watchdog finishes also. Goodbye!
I created a "sphinx" folder in the "log" folder and a "searchd.development.pid" file, but nothing changed.
