Question about software updates on Windows 10?

Hello!
At first glance, a trivial question, but lately I have become very interested. This was not the case before.
Here's how to update software on Windows 10. More precisely, why it's not organized at all, unlike Android.
Here I downloaded, for example, the shareware program AIDA 64 from the official website. (It is not clear how it differs from the paid one) but the key can be entered in the settings.
Let's say, I checked the updates of this program - there is writing. It redirects to the site, there is a link to some archive. I'm downloading the archive. And in this archive file AIDA.exe. Those I have to reinstall the program on top of the already standing one, or first remove that one and install this one ?! Unclear. Is it possible to do something humanly, like on an android, so that it updates itself in the background if necessary ?! Or is this the difference between the paid version and the free version ?!

Thank you!

I am not a programmer, so I can only judge the subject as a user. So, in relation to updates, user software (Windows applications) is simply divided into groups, in each of which work with updates has been worked out to a different depth.
1. The simplest programs are those in which the author did not deal with this issue at all. Of course, he writes the next versions and eliminates various shortcomings in them, then he simply uploads them, leaving everything else to the discretion of the user. There are two subgroups here: a) the new version overwrites the previous one during installation, and b) the new version is placed next to the old one and coexists with it without mutual interference (the old version can continue to be used).
2. Over time, the author realizes that the user's fuss with manual updating is also a flaw, and auto-update finally appears in the next version. As a rule, this is already solid software written by a team. Simpler programs may not reach this stage.

Is it possible to do something humanly, like on an android, so that it updates itself in the background if necessary?
The user cannot. The only way available to you is to use the feedback channel with the author (if he opened it): tell him what you are unhappy with, and then wait if he will react to your remark in the next version.

Depends on the authors of the application.
Someone made a simple update, someone did not.
I have a lot of software in Win 10 that updates itself.
Specifically with AIDA, you just got unlucky.

No difference.

This is clear. Not sure how to update yet. If I re-download the new exe-file of the program from the new version and start its installation in an arbitrary folder, then it will simply get on the computer along with the old version on the computer, or will it somehow replace it ?!
Wrote in support, they also somehow vaguely answered, they say "install the new version" and gave a link.
BUT my fundamental question was not answered .
