Question about scripted objects, missions, etc.?
There are such games where there are moments in which routes for objects (for example, enemies) are scripted, i.e. The developers tell them where to go and what to do.
there are scroll shooters, and here I have a question, there are missions in the game and the appearance of enemies is scripted there, i.e. the developer sat like this and spent hours writing code so that the enemies would appear there and there.
Can't it be done differently? Is this such a monotonous job?

Of course not. Usually the developer writes some kind of map editor, and the level designer then indicates in it who, where and in what quantities appears. Or procedurally generated if it's some kind of bagel.
At the initial stages of development and for very small toys - yes, this can also be written in the code, but then there is a clear separation into code and level data.
