Question about buying on eBay (item condition) (smartphone)?
I want to buy an additional smartphone on eBay on Android for merciless experiments. So, in fact, the question is: the seller at a rather tasty price offers a pipe that is manufacturer refurbished (that is, a defect is found, sent to the factory, where the manufacturer repairs it and throws it back on the market as new, but with a mark of restoration and a discount of 20-30 % - like in Russia “from the window”), but I have never purchased such devices in my life, so I don’t know if it’s worth taking, given that I plan to roam with the stock without manipulation for a month or two?
I smoked Google, 4pda, foreign forums, but nothing really was said, although the mood is mostly positive (they say that such handsets do not have defects much more often than purely new ones, and sometimes even the quality is higher due to additional tests by the manufacturer).
I would like to know from the habra community how they relate to such goods, what experience of use, if anyone has acquired (emphasis on phones / communicators), and is it worth buying (the rating of the seller I'm interested in is 99% and top-rated seller)? And then the search found only scattered comments, but there was no full-fledged branch.

Even if something happens, the seller's rating says a lot. An asterisk and thousands of reviews are usually kind to their customers and it is easy to negotiate with them.
And as for the thing - then how lucky, I took a refurbished netbook (msi wind), it worked fine, no problems got out in a couple of months (then I sold it).
Many acquaintances took it (10 percent, after a month or two some sores got out, but there was nothing serious). Basically, it's a lottery. Ask immediately about the seller about the condition and "what if it breaks."
I know 2 people, though they took "manufacturer refurbished" SLR cameras. I often communicate with 1 of my acquaintances, and I confirm that the DSLR serves "faithfully".
Of course, I cannot but agree with the opinion about the lottery, a certain percentage of success and failure is still present. But even if you buy in a store, this percentage will also be, and there will also be hemorrhoids with service centers, though to a slightly lesser extent. In this case, I also recommend taking goods from the "worldwide warranty service".
In my opinion, you should be more worried about the passage of the parcel through customs, it’s too much now everything is upside down there, a lot comes open and some even disappear.
A few years ago, I bought an Ipod Nano just Manufacturer refurbished - the player was in perfect condition, packed and all that, the box was just corton, but also with the Apple logo, it just said Refurbished in large letters - obviously it would not be sold as new.
In general, my device was in perfect new condition, it still serves without any problems.
Sometimes these devices are better than new ones. after repairs are tested manually. However, I have never bought one myself, and most likely I will not.

I took refurbished radar detectors ... two pieces, they have been working so far for 1 year and 1.5 years for the second.
here you probably need to read more carefully what exactly is wrong with him, ask the seller and it still depends on the product. I probably would not take a refurbished phone, although it may well be just a replaced case, for example, or a crumpled box or without it.
manufacturer refurbished - actually means that the manufacturer has corrected the shortcomings that were, and paid additional attention to the equipment, which, on the contrary, increases the chances of buying high-quality equipment. Because everyone else gets a regular device from the assembly line, which can contain anything.
