As far as I understand, you have a wifi adapter Intel Centrino® Wireless-N 1000
. If so, then all you have to do is go here http://www.intellinuxwireless.org/?n=Downloads and download the Linux driver package. The archive contains the driver itself and readme, it describes how to install it.
But the best way out is to upgrade, at least to 11.04.
