Practical meaning of inherited themes in Wordpress?
Firework! I read about theme inheritance. Does anyone use this mechanism? What is he for? At first glance it seems that it only confuses. I'm actively using bootstrap in shabs. I just copy the harvested fish and make a new pattern based on it, apparently this mechanism is just for these cases, but I don’t see any profits.

I use a third party theme for editing. If you update it, then my edits do not disappear.
you just have a small scale
there are a bunch of fancy topics that sometimes need to be slightly modified
I often use inherited (or child) themes to augment and modify an existing theme. With the right approach to the parent theme, the use of child themes allows you to change anything, while not touching the main theme. By the way, the WordPress.org theme repository has been accepting child themes for a long time.
Having a prepared “dummy” is also a useful thing. They are often called starter themes, like _s . There are also "frameworks" with a bunch of APIs, such as Genesis .
