Possible Application Options for Junior Android Developer Portfolio?

Good afternoon!
I would like to get a job as an Android Developer, but I have only read literature, some knowledge of current trends in Android development, and completed courses (both at the university and on Udacity.com).
Understanding the employer perfectly well that I don’t want to take a pig in a poke, I ask you to help me in a difficult task - to come up with an idea and functionality of an application that would sufficiently show my readiness for this work, but also not be too complicated (read, designed for development development team).
If possible, indicate the approximate time frame in your opinion for the implementation of the proposed tasks.
Sincerely,
misha.

Did you watch this? You can complicate applications and add some features. If you're looking for ideas, here's a great list. Or here on the toaster . See what you can do.
Well, in general, it all depends on the office in which you want to get a job. Where a good theory + a simple tcp chat will do, and somewhere more complex programs and subtleties of architecture can be asked.
