Please advise a device with 1 ethernet connector. The device needs to be given an ip and it will respond to a ping, nothing else. It is desirable that it does not freeze itself and costs up to $ 6.

Is there anything like this in nature? What is it called and where to buy in large quantities?

As for “up to $6”, I’m not sure what exists in nature. Of the small, more or less ready-made devices for this and wider functionality, there is the Raspberry Pi. If the task is to monitor the network, then managed switches are preferable (there are also inexpensive ones): they can set an ip-address, ping and monitor ports.
