PL for information security?

I watched the series "Mr. Robot", I really liked the specialty of the main character, namely "Information Security". I wanted to do what he did. I went to college for this specialty and learned from the teacher that we will not learn any programming languages. So, I would like to know what I should learn from programming languages and what I need besides them.

Please say you're not serious! How can you choose a specialty after watching the series? And if you watched Doctor House, would you go and devote 1,000,500 years of your life to medicine?

that we will not learn any programming languages
Naturally. The main field of activity of security specialists, especially with this specialized education, is office work with documents.
In the series, the main character is a highly qualified programmer involved in the related field of information security.

You are early in IT.
However, languages are not needed for security, you can learn some Bash.

Of course, I am a layman in information security ("web macaque" with a year of experience), but you must understand that information security is not coding.
IS is an understanding of the structure/architecture of the system for which IS will be provided, its vulnerable areas, bottlenecks, what is built on, and so on. Information security is the broadest area in which it is better not to climb without understanding why it is and why.
What will be the tools - it does not matter. Perhaps you really have to develop a system without using tools yourself, but only indirectly (choosing a technology, studying its advantages and disadvantages over others).
I advise you to either study the topic more deeply, or quit your studies, so as not to regret it later.

Bash
C
Assembler
Most Linux and programs for it are written in C. To be able to write exploits, you need to know how a C program is built, what are its common parts, how the compiler and loader work.

I would say that you do not have enough curiosity for a security officer.
In that fantastic screen adaptation that prompted you to enter the KZ, there are indications of the PL that was used there
. Whether it is worth studying for you depends on the area in which you will practice
PS: basic the type of activity of this character was a dispensary for the mentally ill
