Pictures in SQL database, can it be recoded?

Greetings!
By inheritance, I inherited a database for 1C on SQL weighing 500GB. The size is due to the large number of images in TIFF format and scans in PDF. Actually the crux of the matter. Is it possible to convert (not manually each image) images to some less resource-intensive format, or mass-compress these images? And how to do it? The same goes for PDF.
Accordingly, in the database, it is also necessary to rewrite the paths to new images, etc., etc.
Thank you!
Z.Y. It is very difficult to back up a database of this size and it’s not at all calm at heart;)

@Fragster

If this is typical on the BSP, then there is processing for transferring files to file storage volumes (to shared folders).
