PCI-E 3.0 backwards compatible with older graphics cards?
I decided to gradually update my old PC, in connection with which the question surfaced. I have an old but reliable video card Gigabyte GeForce 8600GT. I want to update the hardware in parts:
1. Process + Mother + Memory
2. SSD
3. Video card
If I take a mother with PCI-E 3.0 at the first stage of the update, will my video card start on it? I rarely play games (and even then - in the old ones), so the performance issue for me is not worth it - the main thing is to make it work.

If I'm not mistaken about anything, then there should be backward compatibility, i.e. should earn.
Importantly, PCIe 3.0 remains backward compatible with previous PCIe versions.http://www.ixbt.com/news/hard/index.shtml?14/03/51
pci-ex controller has long been sitting not in chipsets, but in processors.
