Password-protect a folder on the network?
It is necessary to password-protect several folders, they must be accessible via a local network or via the Internet, but access must be password-protected.
Any computer should be able to access them by entering a password.
FTP is not suitable because editing and saving changes is problematic, as well as the password for the archive.
I understand that it is possible to set up access to shared folders and no one else will enter, but the management sets the tasks and they want a friend there.

Why not FTP? We use Total Commander, merge-fill. We use a full link like ftp://user:[email protected]/folder/ in Explorer, we have almost transparent access.
What prevents you from setting up a ball (share / smb) and distributing the right to access these folders?
You can also use webdav.
If paranoia develops, then you can create a bitlocker container that will ask for a password.
Through the Internet, share/smb is uniquely only through a VPN for such things.
