Partitioning a disk why?

I want to install Linux as a second system on a disk, but I can't partition the disk. Shows that I can only compress 2GB

Although the disk is free at 59GB5c9f60717e77b414670010.png

clarification - with such volumes, the available free space is vital for you to hibernate , swap (Windows) , and most importantly - update Windows ..
.. you can delete the unnecessary from the bold, then it will be easier to solve the problem
after disabling the unnecessary - yes, defragmentation . but again I recommend a full backup to an external drive . you need a complete defragmentation, that is, it is possible with third-party programs, since Windows tends to defragment just files as such
, and I will support the advice - with such volumes (ssd?), put a second disk for another system

why?
Fragmentation of system files. It cannot compress if at the end of the partition you have a piece of a swap file, and a hibernation file for example, or a VSS store.
To get rid of it -
Disable swap file, disable hibernation, delete all shadow copies, reboot and defragment. After defragmenting, compress and turn everything back on.
Well, as you have already correctly noticed, it makes no sense to install two systems on a disk of such a volume, especially since it looks like an SSD for you. Then it's completely pointless.

Compressing and splitting a disk are completely different things. First, google the instructions for installing Linux on a disk. Then you take something like a disk editor from Acronis (never use Windows, if you don't mind the data), repartition your disk and install Linux. But the easiest way is to install VirtualBox and without all this, it’s easy to use several systems at the same time.
