OS for the computer\server for storing backups?

Good day everyone!
Given: there is a computer with a first generation i5 and 4 GB of DDR3 non-ECC memory, 2 * 2Tb, 2 * 500 Mb hard drives, the mother supports raid. You need to get a piece of hardware on which backups will be merged and then stored
. FreeNas or Nas4Free or xpenology or could this be your option? Who implemented how, without having a storage system, tape drives and all sorts of ready-made nas-s in the economy?
And if you look towards FreeNAS, it is possible to get hold of ECC memory.
