Opening multiple folders in gedit (gmate)?

Hello. It happens that the project grows into a huge number of files and folders. When I open my project in gedit (I use GMATE), the whole project opens with all folders:
>> gmate /var/www/project
I would like to open only the folders I need:
>> gmate /var/www/project/app/controllers /var/www/project/app/models /var/www/project/app/views
Why?
Well, for example, a quick file search starts to slow down when you have a couple of thousand files in your project.
Is there any way to open multiple folders?
