Opencart: Why is the comment text not being added to the order?

The site has a free onepagecheckout module.
After placing an order, it gives the resulting information - what, where and who ordered, but the "comment" field is empty, respectively, and an email with this empty field comes to the mail.
I checked the model, controller, template - everything is in place. Where to dig?
