On which USB OS can I check the operation of the microphone?
Win7. The microphone either works or doesn't work.
Yes, and in the BIOS, the choice of realtek / via hda ...
Maybe hardware, maybe drivers - I want to write something to a USB flash drive, boot and check, I'll know for sure.
I think you need some kind of Linux, but so that you can immediately complete a set of drivers and not climb to look for where to check, otherwise I'm not very good at Linux.
Just check on a known normal distribution with a maximum number of drivers and some kind of program. the motherboard itself is not new, I think this option will work.
What OS do you recommend?

If you have fairly standard hardware, then any live distribution from the popular ones will do. Try ubuntu or mint.
Any of the Win-PE tool-recovery builds will do (perhaps even the vintage hiren's boot CD will do), as long as it has any internet browser. In it, open the web version of Skype , and there you call the Echo / Sound Test Service. In the proposed 10 seconds, say something into your microphone, then listen and draw conclusions.
This is how I always check microphones (though on the stationary version of Skype).
