On what OS is it right to study PHP + Yii?

For python, Unix systems are preferred, for C# - Windows. What is better for PHP? What do different companies usually use?

Any one that is more convenient for you. (PHP works everywhere). But, of course, *nix is easier to set up (if everything is done manually) + it will be closer to combat conditions (since combat servers will most likely be on them).
But Vagrant seems to work everywhere as well. So I go back to the beginning: on any.

this approach is: I want to fish with a bobber. That's why I bought a cruise ship.
It doesn't matter what you study. For python there is virtualenv, for php denver (or something else like that).
There are no restrictions.

If you are on Windows, try openserver, it is 1000 times better than any denwer / XAMPP
If on Linux, then raise the LEMP / LAMP stack and work in it, options are possible through vagrant or docker.
PS: The latest version of Yii2 (2.0.8) already has a vagrant configuration out of the box, use it:
