On what hosting to do a big project?

Good afternoon.
Experienced people, please tell me which hosting to choose for a more or less large project?
For example, sites like pinterest.com with a lot of content, or a news site with a lot of pictures.
The catch is that all hostings have a memory limit that will quickly run out if there are a lot of pictures + allowable load ... which in itself is already bad ... it is not known how many people will come in.
What do you think is the best place to spread your brainchild? there was an idea to buy a server for example for 1tb of memory to start with, take an office and a dedicated line, find a person who will install a server bundle and close the holes. - what do you think about this idea?
Of course, you can take a dedicated server from a hosting provider, but still the resources are not the same.
Thanks to all!

It is hardly worth taking your server right away. Also, do not take hosting, because it is very limited. VDS is a good place to start. Anyway, the first time there will not be so much traffic and content.

I would start with VDS.
Which can easily be increased as needed.
If you know exactly how much it will be, then of course a dedicated server is better.
About the placement of your iron.
Your processor or hard drive will break, how will you restore everything as soon as possible and for how much? If the answer is I don't know and more than 2 hours, then this option will not work.

Do it right away in containers and place where they can run. If the project takes off, then transfer it to the cloud without any problems. Moreover, competent work with containers will immediately force you to organize a scalable architecture.
In the case of fast disk aging, it is better to immediately go to the cloud. On the one hand, all kinds of S3 can give you conditionally unlimited, and most importantly, immediately scalable storage. Well, they will also force you to use a slightly more competent approach than putting files on the disk "immediately" and then suffering with scaling.

I think it makes no sense to immediately take a lot of resources for the project, because even the estimated load is not known in advance. You can get by on the first steps with the usual VPS / VDS (for 500-1000 rubles) and if the traffic grows rapidly, switch to the cloud and see what will grow and you can already make an assumption that you will need to have in your capacity. And so, in my opinion, this is fortune-telling on coffee grounds, unless of course you have a similar experience working on a similar project.
