This can be done using the built-in macro functionality.
Write down the necessary actions and play them later.
In this GIF, I started recording after highlighting the word. I cut the selected word, wrote the necessary text and pasted what was in the buffer back and stopped the macro recording. After already applied the recorded script to the selected words.

Next, select the menu item: "Macros-> Save recorded macro ..." and in the window that appears, assign a name and a combination of hot keys to call this macro.
