Mysterious deletion of files in Win7

Good afternoon.

An unusual thing just happened. I decided to clean the laptop from unnecessary programs, and as a result of their removal, the Downloads folder in the user folder turned out to be completely empty. OS - Win7 Home Premium Licensed.
Programs were uninstalled using the standard Windows uninstall utility. If this plays a role, I will list the list of remote programs and games:

- WOW (may the gods forgive me)
- Allods online
- Launcher from 4game
- MS Office Starter
- VK Saver
- Beeline USB modem

The reason for this incident is interesting, but even more interested in the issue of restoring the missing files, because there was something important that could not be retrieved again.

Most likely, one of the applications, when launched from / downloads, was automatically installed in the same folder, and when removed, it simply nailed all the contents.

I bet on VK Saver: the search finds victims with browser profiles deleted along with it, as well as people who, when deleted, swear at the use of files in the directories being deleted or lack of rights.

Probably some softinka used for itself a path like C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Downloads, which is naturally not in the same WinXR by default. But in Vista and Win7 it is, but the soft is not up to date. So she cleared the path.
