MSI GL63 8RD or Macbook air 2017 for very heavy programs?

Which one is better? which one breaks more often and which one lags? I don't want to screw up for that kind of money.
Or if someone thinks that this and that is shit, then advise me which one else to choose for the same amount, my budget is up to $ 1300.
On a laptop I will program, work with graphics, run android studio or more heavy engines
and at least 20-30 tabs in the browser.

A year ago I asked myself the same question. Let me give you a little history. Initially, I used a macbook about the end of 2013. TYTS most of the time I worked on it in xcode and I will say that there is no more convenient environment for programming. I also ran 1-3 virtual machines on it for software testing and, in general, it coped with all tasks by 9 out of 10. I’ll throw one stone into the garden of this device, during long use the laptop case becomes uncomfortable hot. Otherwise, we get pluses: a retina matrix, a productive processor, a metal case (almost the most important thing in a laptop), a comfortable keyboard, good battery life. But it’s also worth paying attention to the laptop’s graphics card, for example, I didn’t need it at all, so the above-mentioned poppy model completely satisfied me.
Now let's move on to the experience in using MSI gp62 7rdx TYTS I decided to take it to replace the poppy due to the fact that the poppy was no longer young and was losing its demand in the user market. My choice fell on MSI for several reasons:
At the time of purchase in 2017, the device cost me around 80k.
The laptop came pre-installed with Windows 10, I used it for about 2 weeks, I will say this, everything works perfectly, if you do not take into account the glitches of the OS itself. For me, Windows is not a convenient system, so I started installing arch on my laptop. There were no problems during the installation, everything went as simple as possible and without incidents. I note that the video card is hybrid and for its activation in Linux you need bbswitch + bumblebee. I will say that in Arch the optiran works almost out of the box, so this can also be considered as a trifling matter.
Every day I work with c, php, mysql, cmake, gdb, in short, I don't leave the gnu development environment. Similarly, I use several virtual machines and, in principle, everything.
I'll start with the minuses of the last device:
1. The plastic case is just awful, very easily soiled and not convenient to clean, also after a year of use without severe physical impacts, backlashes, cracks, and so on appeared. I made a conclusion for myself: I will never take a laptop in a plastic case again.
2. Cooling system - this model is simply not efficient. I noticed that the processor often throttles and performance drops, it is fixed by changing the thermal paste, in a year and a half of use it has already been changed three times, and this makes me think. When turbo boosting the cooling system with throttling, there are no problems, the processor works well, but the noise is too annoying. When using the usual temperature of the CPU is 40-55 degrees, the GPU is 35-50 degrees.
3. Trackpad - it is simply not suitable for comfortable use, it often double-clicks, in general, it cannot be compared with a poppy.
Advantages of the device:
1. Battery life is about 4-5 hours, the battery holds well, although 18650 banks are used
. 2. Quite comfortable keyboard
3. In general, the performance is good, although there are problems with throttling.
4. Partially satisfies my requirements.
I give a usage rating of 6 out of 10.
At the moment I want to try a laptop from xaomi.
And in conclusion, I will express my subjective opinion about choosing a laptop for work: the case is only metal, the processor is not lower than i7, the memory is only ssd or ssd + hdd, ddr4 priority RAM, a good trackpad, only ips or retina matrix , do not consider the category of gaming laptops, avoid brands msi, asus, hp. Again, this is just my opinion.
I hope I helped you.
