Most user friendly way to make replies for comments?

If you make a mention, then you need notifications and by clicking on the notification scroll, loading the next comments, as well as a setting to disable such notification. If you do it like on a toaster, it will come out clumsy, scroll a lot with long answers and comments.
Or do it with threads, but then you have to click and go to another page to honor the answer, and if the nesting is too deep, then you will have to go to the page, and then another and another.
You can do it like on reddit, but it looks wretched. There's like 5 visible replies, and then it collapses into a separate sub-thread of replies. In addition, as I mentioned earlier, even by switching from a comment page to a comment, a situation with deep nesting can arise, where 10+ comments in a row receive a response in depth.
Example A -> B > C > D > E > F > G .... each letter is the answer to the previous letter.
