Mongo process is not killed - what to do?

$ pgrep mongo
728
$ kill 728
$ pgrep mongo
728

I get the PID of the process, I kill the process, but when I request the PID again, it is issued, and the new mongi process, accordingly, does not start.
What to do in such a situation?
