Modern GUI in Java, what to learn?
Good day. There was a desire to write a small application in Java, which I am slowly learning. There are no special requirements for it, the main thing is that it looks nice on Windows, I still write for myself and a few friends. I plan to use it as a normal desktop application, if I understand this phrase correctly.
Swing has already been tried and quite successfully, but it is still deprecated and not supported. So the question arose, where to go next? Google suggested that there is also SWT and JavaFX. But with them it was not really possible to decide. I decided to start with JavaFX, I liked the examples, but in the end I still didn’t understand. Is this technology still relevant? Is there any point in studying it? Or is there something newer and more convenient, relevant in the next couple of years? And what about SWT? I just would not want to delve into the study of technology that is already outdated and that everyone swears at.
