Mobile application how to choose a platform?

I plan to create a mobile application for both android and iOS. Which platform is better to start with, which platform will be easier to convert the Application to another? What's the best way to save money on this?

Don't use cross-platform frameworks. It is long, expensive and of poor quality. Somewhere a study slipped that development for iOS costs ~ a third cheaper (time / money).
Accordingly, if the emphasis on mass character is android, on profit from sales - ios.

use one language for writing for all platforms:
xamarin
phonegap
and so on

start with android, the entrance is much cheaper.
Redo? 1+1 = 2, what's the point of changing terms?
You can, for example, on Qt or another universal one, cover both platforms at once, but most likely you won’t do it for either one, since you have no experience with any platform.

If you choose a third-party developer, will the cross-platform come out cheaper?

There is a great, simple and cross-platform Corona SDK .
Free full size. And with a low entry threshold - in the form of a simple Lua language.
