Mining, does it really generate income, or is it still an expense?

For example , a super/duper computer with just awesome vidyuhi and huge RAM requirements costs just incredibly huge bucks.
And besides, you need to constantly upgrade video cards to even more powerful ones ... and what to do with those vidyuhi in which huge money is invested ?
Is it really profitable?

Yes, it generates income (but there are caveats, read to the end ). Largest on alt-coins (Ether, Monero, etc.), the profit is higher than from bitcoin mining.
BUT it all depends on the course and opportunities. If the rate goes down, all profits will go nowhere, this is the first moment, the second - for good earnings you need a minimum farm, this is a big investment (over $ 30k), under these conditions, given the high rate of the crypt, you can earn from $ 10-20k to $ 30-40k per year (and higher, taking into account the initial investment)
In general, I advise you to engage in investing, not mining. The entry threshold is lower, the risks are less with the right approach.
