Raspberry will not pull unfortunately.
I tried with PI3. I wrote to the ramdisk, but it still slowed down too much and the video files turned out to be "broken". If I remember correctly, the picture was 1280x720.
I also tried to put Motion eye and record video on an external hdd. Also generally not workable even with one camera and low fps.
My camera hangs remotely without infrastructure, so PI with a gsm modem was very convenient in size. As a result, I just did getting a picture from the camera once a minute and sending it via ftp to vds.
