Mini ip telephony (voip) at home?

Good day, the idea to make a simple ip phone between the house and the dacha caught fire.
Actually what is available:
2 VoIP gateways (linksys PAP2T)
2 RJ-11 telephones
and white ip on each side (or you can deploy vpn from the home server at worst)

I read that there is a wonderful Aterisk software server.

Actually the question itself is whether it is so easy to make VoIP for 2 - 3 clients?

Connect to any SIP operator and use.
Or check out https://nextcloud.com/talk/

All this will be more expensive than talking on a mobile phone at a regular rate, don't suffer from nonsense.

Yes, you can. To do this, you will need at least one white IP on which you will put asterisk. Then you will need to enable and configure SIP in it, configure gateways so that they register on it and set up a dialplan.

If there is a goal to have access to an external telephone network (i.e., a SIP provider), then it makes sense to take a virtual PBX service, or take the simplest virtual machine on Linux and put your PBX there (Asterisk and any derivative binding like freepbx).
Thus, if there is no Internet in the country house or in the apartment, then everything will work in another place anyway.
And vpn between the virtual machine, apartment and cottage.

Interest Ask. Theoretically, when using up to 3 linksys PAP2T, it is possible to organize a call even without a telephony server, if all VOIP clients have addresses in advance. But this is quite difficult to set up, it will be especially difficult to set up dialplan on linksys.
I would recommend a cloud telephony server, calls within the network are free.

Try ATSku 3CX, it's free for a year, along with the cloud (although you can deploy it at home), with updates. White IP is not required (with cloud). There is a client for Windows, IOs and Android. Good hardware support, "programmed by mouse".
Asterisk is certainly good, and everything is possible with it, but you need to understand - you may not be ready to modify it with a file ...

If you have only 2 clients and they should call each other, you don't even need a sip server in principle. Google towards Direct IP Call.
You only need l3 connectivity between these two devices, preferably without NAT (so you don't have to guess which ports you need to forward).
