Mini filter for MODx pages!?

Good afternoon!
There is a portfolio of the company's work. Regular pages have been created and work data is displayed in the catalog using getResources.
The design includes a mini filter "Last works / Objects in progress" - when clicked, it should filter and show the last 12 works that have been selected.
Filter is a big word. The buttons themselves are located in the list of works.
Structure: - General
catalog (all works are shown here)
- Division 1
- Division 2
- Division 3
- Division 4
that I will confuse the user
How and the easier it can be implemented!?
