Microsoft Dryad and DryadLINQ: Has anyone come across?

Surely, many representatives of the Habrapopulation have heard about the Dryad technology developed by Microsoft.
The project has been in the research stage for a long time, and relatively recently people from Microsoft announced that they are moving on to turning it into a commercial project in order to create competition between MapReduce and Hadoop.
As far as I was able to find out from the project page, Dryad beta testing was launched quite recently.
If anyone has dealt with the beta version or in any other way had the pleasure of tinkering with this very Dryad, I will be grateful for the feedback and impressions.
In general, briefly, my question is as follows: in your opinion, is Dryad really capable of becoming a competitor to MapReduce and Hadoop, as the gentlemen from MS promise?
