Memcached likes to clean up after itself?

Hello.
Actually, such a dilemma - there is memcached running from www-data with rights 775.
The connection to memcached goes via UDS to /var/run/memcached/memcached.sock.
But when I type reboot on my print device and then log into the server, memcached is not running because the /var/run/memcached folder is missing. Why, exactly? Every time I create it and become its owner. How can memcached delete this folder and does it even have enough conscience?

/var/run is an in-memory file system, it is not saved across restarts.
