Make friends with Java and Groovy

There was an idea: to configure your java application, use not json (xml), but groovy scripts. I just don't see how it can be done technically.

Is it possible to create something like this (or something like this)?

a Java application defines a class (s) with some configuration parameters for this application (ConfigClass for example), and outside the application (not in the jar) there lives a groovy script that could receive an instance of such a class, set the values of this class, and then pass it back to an application that would happily work with it.
