Macbook Pro. How to connect an external screen?

Hello!
Faced a problem on MacBook Pro (Retina, Mid 2012). When connecting an external monitor/TV via HDMI, it doesn't show up in the monitor settings on a Mac. This did not always happen, the problem appeared suddenly.
There are some symptoms. When you connect the cable to the Mac, the screen fades out for a moment, as it should, but it still does not see external screens. If the poppy is completely discharged, then, when turned on, the poppy screen does not turn on. The poppy itself works, the volume is adjustable, the backlight of the keys, caps lock ... Everything reacts. But the screen starts only after a certain procedure - connecting an HDMI cable to it, closing the lid, disconnecting the cable with the lid closed and opening the lid. This solution appeared at random.
Googled for a long time, the solution to the problem was not found. Tried with different cables that work with other devices.
What do you advise?

The cable needs to be changed. If the monitor is large with a high resolution (I have 27 inches 2560x), then it will require a connection via the Thunderbold interface and an Apple Dual DVI adapter (something like that), there with additional. powered by USB. My monitor did not turn on at this resolution without this adapter.
