Mac os virtual key codes in games?

Very often in full screen games (for example, on the Q3 engine, or for example "A Valley Without Wind"), the game does not respond to key presses.
Arrows, escape, shifts and space work, but specific keys do not work - WSAD, E, etc.
If you go into the application settings and try to reassign the keys, a three-digit code is entered instead of any of them, judging by what I could google - virtual key code. I suspect that I have some kind of input settings that are not the same, or the clicks are not processed correctly in the game.
The question is how to overcome it? Can anyone come across?

Setting the system-wide language to English helped.
Some bullshit, Satan!

It was the same. I overcame it by switching the default layout to English.
Or minimize the game and switch it yourself.
