Hello, such a problem, I updated MacOS to 10.12, now I close the lid of the laptop, the screen turns off, but does not block, i.e. you open again and the password does not ask, in the settings there is a password request immediately after exiting the lock mode.

Sorry, I figured it out, I installed the Duet program for a long time, which creates a virtual display, when updating the kext from this program, it began to work inadequately, I deleted the application itself, but did not delete the module, as a result, it worked approximately the same as with an external display connected. Deleted /Library/Extensions/DuetDisplay.kext and rebooted.
