Mac mini or MacBook 13.3?
Hello! I wanted to buy an Apple computer, the question arose to buy a mac mini + then a monitor, keyboard and mouse for it, naturally (not Apple), or immediately take a Macbook 13.3, it will come out a little more expensive, but not noticeable. The computer will be used for web development, and of course for the usual purposes of listening to music, watching movies, surfing the Internet, etc. The difference between Mac mini and macbook in tech. har-x is obtained only in the size of the hard disk (this is not essential for me). The mobility of a macbook is of course +, but wouldn't such a screen be small for full-fledged work? :)

Hello. Everything is not obvious. Let me tell you my story: I have been using Macs since 2007. Started with Mac mini.
It is worth discussing right away - I got all the poppies at prices significantly lower than the average market price.
Then I used mini in combination with a 24 "monitor, at some point HD flooded into our world, and mini stopped working quickly and easily. The moment came up and I changed it to a MacBook of the same configuration and lived happily until the year 2010.
The laptop is more convenient for home.I'm not tied to a desk with a monitor, and I can be anywhere. If there is an opportunity to add money and buy a laptop, it is better to do so right away.
After some more time, I decided that I didn’t need a personal computer at all (there are still poppies at home), and bought an iPad. From October 2010 until the last week, it was my main personal "computer".
Just a couple of days ago, something popped into my head and I impulsively bought a 2009 mini to *sync iPad and watch movies*.
Take a laptop. The external display is a business. Mobility is much more expensive, although I travel with an iPad, but for example, there is no native Skype, you can’t quickly write / edit text, etc.
Regarding the screen: the difference between 24-30 "from 13" is simply huge. Comfortable work on 13" (in my case CAD + IDE) is not possible without an external display (although I use laptops, and having a desktop solution at home is always a temporary solution). But, mobility is much more important. Don't buy a Mac mini! (I'm serious ).
I had 10" laptops (I wanted the greatest mobility) and a 15" laptop (I wanted a desktop replacement). Now I want 13.3
10 "I used it for web development, I lived with it for almost a year, this is actually a small diagonal, but the connected 19" saved me. The only thing that did not suit me was that it was a netbook, and I lacked its performance.
Now 15 ", the performance is at the level, the same 19" connected in parallel saves. Two monitors is unrealistically convenient and cool.
Now I want 13, why:
1 - I have 19 "at home, I can create a full-fledged workstation at home
2 - 13" is not a small diagonal at all, you can sit behind it on the road without big squinting like on 10"
3 - again, mobility, with 15 (2.3 kg) it’s hard to walk (I carry it in a backpack), it’s not convenient in the car, it takes up a lot of space when you use it outside the home (cafe? guests?)
In principle, guided by these three points, I would choose NOT a desktop, especially given that they have the same parameters, do you want a desktop? Close the laptop lid and you will have a desktop. Do you want to go? please ready.
In general, I do not see a single advantage of a mini over a beech, but on the contrary it is complete.
take a macmini for home, I somehow just like you thought, I took a macbook 13 "I thought I would connect a monitor, mouse, keyboard, etc. to the laptop. As a result, it was very inconvenient, there was not enough USB, I sold the laptop.
To be honest, what a strange choice. What is more convenient for you - 13 "or 20 (or how many will you have there?)? Personally, I'm 13" even for carrying with me. MB was my first poppy, but I abandoned it in favor of MBP after a month 2. At home there is a mini + 22, and that’s not enough, but it won’t fit into the niche of the table anymore, but it all depends on personal preferences - it’s enough for someone. In terms of filling, they are really the same (well, I don’t take the screw into account), the only difference is in the ports. On mb you will only get 2 usb instead of 4, no FW and no card reader, just keep that in mind.
If I were you, I would take a MacBook, if the budget allows. You can connect a monitor and mouse / keyboard without any problems to a macbook. For a full-fledged everyday work, a 13-inch (and even glossy) screen, of course, is not suitable. But on the other hand, you get not just a working machine, but a working machine + laptop, which can be disconnected from the periphery at any time and taken with you.
By the way, the hard drive (as well as the RAM) on a MacBook can be built up without any problems on its own.
Actually, I myself have been working this way for a year and a half - a macbook pro 13, an apple keyboard (very convenient due to the small key travel and the presence of two additional USB ports) and an external 21.5-inch monitor.
13" is certainly not enough for web development. Doesn't the laptop + monitor fit into the budget anymore?
macbook pro 13.3"+monik 24"+bluetooth mouse and keyboard.
Before that, I just worked on a laptop screen, just heaven and earth :)
I recommend the 11" Macbook Air. It has an SSD drive, which makes it noticeably faster than HDD-books.
Buy an external monitor, mouse and Apple Wireless Keyboard for it and get a workstation that can be transformed into a 1-kg weight in a bag at any time on the shoulder.
In terms of cost, the maximum configuration (1.6/4/128) is commensurate with the MB Pro 13 ", but much more mobile.
It is very important - it almost does not heat up.
