Liquid and smoke from an AC adapter not connected to the device, what can it mean and should it be connected?

I connected the AC adapter to the socket, smoke began to flow and a colorless liquid with an unpleasant odor flowed out of the sides. The AC adapter has not been connected to the device. Then everything went on a new attempt in about half an hour, everything worked without errors, the device too. Now I thought I would take it apart and see what was swollen or spilled out there.
