Linux Mint Why can a computer freeze and freeze?

Linux Mint 18.3;
Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU, E5450, 3.00GHz;
8 GB RAM; Motherboard Asus P5QL/EPU;
NVIDIA GT218 [GeForce 8400 GS];
Ethernet: Realtek RTL8111/8168/8411 PCI Express Gigabit.
Internet speed by command speedtest in the Terminal: Download: 176.86 Mbit/s; Upload: 485.04 Mbit/s; ethtool: Speed: 1000Mb/s; Duplex: Full.

At the same time, when you open 15-20 tabs in Chromium, and in other browsers, the computer starts to blunt, freeze, and not respond to the mouse or keyboard from 20-30 seconds to several minutes. There are specific freezes that have to be forced to reboot.
ZRAM installed:
zramctl
NAME ALGORITHM DISKSIZE DATA COMPR TOTAL STREAMS MOUNTPOINT
/dev/zram0 lzo 997M 4K 81B 12K 4 [SWAP]
/dev/zram1 lzo 997M 4K 81B 12K 4 [SWAP]
/dev/zram2 lzo 997M 4K 81B 12K 4 [SWAP]
/dev/zram3 lzo 997M 4K 81B 12K 4 [SWAP]

Where to dig? What to watch? Why is the computer dumb? After a reboot it works fine for a while. But after half an hour of yuzanya on an Internet, everything repeats again.
I am not a great specialist in Linux and manipulations in the Terminal, so dear participants, if you write something, then I ask in a worker-peasant manner, taking into account the low qualification of the user.

When installing the video driver 340.108, as indicated on the manufacturer's website, the network card crashes. She doesn't exist and that's it. Only lo is on the list, but there is no network card.
The same thing happens when updating the kernel. there is no network.
In both cases, we had to take a step back.

I suspect a problem with firewood to the network card. The situation is the following. There was a mother Asus P5K. Linux Mint 18.3 was installed on it. I don't remember how it all worked. Then the mother changed, put P5QL / EPU. As a matter of fact, the mother spread and the TP-link TG-3468 10/100/1000 Mbps network card was added. on board, the P5QL has a dead network card, and is disabled in the BIOS. Linux has not changed.

There are questions to the video, or rather, so far there have been (see screen). Because from time to time there is some kind of ripple. The heatsink and video board got very hot. Installed a 40mm fan. Without ripples it became longer, but still appeared. I installed a 60 mm fan, the second day there were no ripples.

I suspect a problem with firewood to the network card.
But why the network card disappears when the kernel is updated or when new drivers are installed on the video, I don’t understand.
