Linux Mint or Linux Elementary?

Guys, I'm just starting to learn Linux, I want to install a system in which my wife can easily surf the net, watch movies and feel like in Windows. What do you recommend with these two shells?

If for a wife who does not understand Linux, then Linux Mint 17.3 with a Cinnamon shell, but if you want to show your wife the real world of Linux where there are bugs and flaws, then feel free to install Elementary OS Freya, it is raw

It seems to me that neither one nor the other is suitable for STUDYING. It’s not easier to first play around in a virtual machine, install the same Debian, poke into the terminal, see what works and how, even drop something.
To get started:

Good luck

For such purposes, there is no difference. After a satisfactory system setup, what's there, what's there, everything is ok. PS I personally used Ubuntu for a couple of years. But recently switched to Fedora. Satisfied) Made for people.

+1 to Mint, Elementary also seemed raw.

You quickly get used to the elements. Then the Windows-like interface seems "stupid".
Also check out zorin Os.

Windows is better. Seriously. If you need something other than the Internet, then problems may arise in Linux.
Windows 8 comes with built-in antivirus.
A virtual machine is enough to learn Linux.

I don't know about Mint, as I haven't personally used it. The beginner Linuxoid himself installed eOS for testing. You can deal with all the bugs with the help of Google and Ctrl + C with Ctrl + V a dozen commands in the terminal. So far, I'm satisfied with the use and have already begun to wean from Windows.
