Linux for a beginner?
Guru, help!
I've got a burning desire to join the Linux community, but I can't decide which distribution kit to choose. What is the difference between Ubuntu, Arclinux, Mint, etc.?
P.S. I actively use Oracle DBMS.
Thanks to.

They say that Ubuntu is most reminiscent of Windows and that it is very good for former Windows users :)
Ubuntu is the best place to start due to its simplicity and a large number of drivers. Well, on to taste.
1. Someone your friend/neighbor/mistress uses who you can call and they will help.
2. The one whose community is the most active on the Internet.
It is best to stay away from rare and unpopular distributions.
My advice is Mint because it is the most pleasant and hassle-free of all that I have tried. Ubuntu is good too.
I have bad memories with Fedora - something constantly broke and I had to climb into the Internet to look for solutions.
I now answer similar questions to everyone, the best distribution kit for a beginner, which is used by some of your friends, who can tell you, figure it out yourself, climb over to another one later.
I stumbled upon Oracle Linux 6. Can it be used as an OS on a workstation (home/work use), or is it only usable as a server OS?
Something simpler, in the sense, without unnecessary layers of abstraction, as in monstrous Ubuntu.
Arch, Gentoo, Debian from minimal salary.
If you learn how to install Gentoo, you will be smarter on the heads of ubuntovods for sure.
You choose to become smart immediately or gradually :-)
I recently switched to Pinguy .
Before that, there was 2 years of Linux Mint. But in the last year, there was a feeling that the development of Mint began to slow down, nothing really interesting was happening. I was looking for something new, I thought at first to install Elementary OS, but eventually settled on Pinguy. Finished ubuntu with ruffles and checkers.
