On the LG 23EA63T monitor, there is an item "Energy saving" in the menu, which can either be turned on or off. It feels like when turned on, the white color becomes a little whiter-blue, and when the power saving is turned off, it turns a little “yellow”. The brightness does not change. Sometimes when switching modes nothing changes at all.
What is the nature of this mode switching? What is physically happening and what does it ultimately affect?

Most likely, the mode of operation of the backlight inverter is changing. If there is CCFL (cold cathode fluorescent lamp) - then 100% so. If the backlight is diode (LED), similar options are also possible, but the operating current and voltage change there.
