Learning Java courses or a mentor?

Guys, I'm starting to learn java and now I'm going to courses in the group there will be 4 people. conditional operators function cycles pointers then smoothly into Java. The cost is a small $250. but even in the courses, only the base is clear that you still have to study further and further. In general, the program contains the basic foundations of syntax, the formation of algorithmic thinking, the basic foundations of OOP.
The thought came to me: is it possible to take this money to spend on a mentor better than a current programmer, maybe it will be better this way? and where you can find one, I heard about such sites but did not use it.
The course instructor used to teach at a large company like Epam. Now he is teaching himself only positive reviews. So teaching experience is a plus. But I am tormented by the fact that programming is just practice and not theory. Although the fundamentals may not apply
to this, on the other hand, it would be more profitable to find a mentor. That's what I think.

Neither one nor the other. Just take the textbook.
